Lighting to LTA standards
At Heswall Lawn Tennis Club, the court lighting has been completely upgraded to meet LTA standards. The four courts are now lit to over 400 lux with a minimum uniformity of 0.70. This creates a bright and consistent light distribution across the entire playing area.
The old installation with 1 kW metal halide fittings has been replaced with a modern Lumosa LED solution. The difference is immediately noticeable. Better visibility, more comfort and optimal playing conditions for every level.
Smart lighting design for maximum uniformity
Courts 1 and 2 are equipped with a combination of CS430 PRO.NXT and CS430 PRO luminaires. The asymmetrical optics ensure that the light is distributed precisely around the masts. The PRO.NXT optics help project the light evenly across the courts, with clear visibility in key areas such as the net and service lines.
For courts 3 and 4, the surroundings played an important role. With residential buildings close to the courts, controlling light spill was essential. A combination of CS430 PRO.NXT, CS430 PRO and CS260 PRO.NXT luminaires was used. With the addition of visors and precise light control, the light stays on the court while unwanted spill towards the surroundings is minimised.
More activity on court during the evening
In addition to an energy saving of around 40%, the biggest impact is seen in how the courts are used. Where previously only a small group of members played in the evening, this number is expected to grow significantly.
The new lighting makes the difference when it matters most. More playing hours. More activity at the club. And a setting where light is not just functional, but enhances the overall playing experience.
